Our History and Culture

138 years ago, Henry J. Heinz had the innovative notion of packaging his products in glass bottles to show off their purity. The Heinz business took off and we’ve been coming up with great ideas ever since. Take our top-down ketchup bottle, organic baby food range, our beans amnesty, mean beanz range or our new dreamz meanz Heinz campaign just for starters. Innovation & excellence remain a key part of our business culture today.

Henry J. Heinz also understood that employees deserve the highest regard and encouragement. He was quoted as saying, "Heart power is more important than horsepower".

Henry began our tradition of caring by making sure they had clean clothes, washing facilities and even compulsory manicures for staff handling food. He gave them a gymnasium, a roof garden, concerts and lectures; civilizing touches well ahead of their time, which meant that people queued up to work at Heinz.

Today, we pride ourselves in continuing Henry's commitment of caring for the people who work here. That means providing a balance of work and family life, including offering a variety of benefits to all employees.

We also strive to encourage and foster a diverse workforce where all employees are valued and respected. Diversity is recognising and understanding the differences in culture, beliefs and values each of us brings to the workplace. It is this skilled and talented workforce that enables Heinz to realise its full potential and to be more responsive to the needs of our customers.
